A short preface, as it were. That image is of the Uroboros, the serpent that lives on forever by consuming itself. It’s a clear violation of the Laws of Thermodynamics. The law that states that entropy, the tendency to disorder, always increases. No serpent can live on itself because the “leakage”, the energy used and dissipated into the environment, would not be retained and, therefore, the serpent could not reconstruct itself from itself.
Nevertheless, this is something to ponder as one of the goals of alchemy. Immortality would be a quality, while not of any particular thing or object in the universe, would have to be a quality of the universe itself.
After all, is the universe not immortal? Does ii not find a way to keep itself in life, recycling the energy?
Sure, there was a “Big Bang”, but coming out of what previous state?

One teaser, however. If we were able to create an essence of this, could we obtain immortality?

Welcome to the first edition of the Contrary Warrior Health Blog Podcast. We will talk about the contradictions and incomplete development of modern culture especially as regards the intellect, reasoning itself, and science and the psyche, as psyche, and not “mind”, and then look at what happened to bring about the whole postmodern world.
We’ll talk about the various experts who have had great influence in the world from traditional religious leaders to Freud and Jung and others as well as esoteric Christian teachers whose point of view and exercises can be of real benefit to people wishing to develop conscience and an objective knowledge of themselves.
The level of friction and disharmony between men and women today is part of this. Race relations, as well. Romantic love derives from this loss of psyche. Basically, you find missing pieces of your psyche in your beloved, but, of course, ultimately, it will not cure you of your structural problem, your incomplete relation with your own psyche.
Many will maintain that all of this has been an improvement. A victory over superstition. A total improvement? Well perhaps a necessary step in the exigencies of Western cultural development,but the baby, as we commonly say, definitely got thrown out with the bathwater.
Good and evil are real and will not be determined by rationalists nor materialists. Just get in TikTok and listen to the superficial pontificators on atheism, morality being subjective, and try to engage without them becoming enraged.
This sense of being absolutely right is called “monotheistic consciousness” by followers of Jung. You, in effect, worship your own beliefs as infallible doctrine, and seek to persecute critics as infidels.
It’s the “deja vu of the Inquisition all over again!”, to paraphrase Yogi Berra.
The existence of the essence of being a subject, otherwise known as the soul, cannot be overlooked. Or, we could say, that you can overlook it only at your own expense. This is, of course, the actual problem of the postmodern world.
The question is, as discussed well in the pseudo-history book, The Spear of Destiny, is whether or not this collapse of Western theological culture gave birth to various forms of nihilism, radical socialism, and, in fact, a war against religious ideals of any sort or of any experience. The author of Spear of Destiny maintained that the triumph of literalist interpretation of the Holy Books over the groups with a mythopoetic interpretation necessitated all of this. When the Vatican became the arbeiter of legitimate faith, with Victor the Seventh crowing Charlemagne, literal theology took hold.
It’s an argument that works as psychological paradigm, if not literal history.
As nation-states emerged, having lost anything to temper their drive to formation and power itself, we ended up with a nationalism without any kind of conscientious restriction, fueled by industrialized warfare. All the ingredients for a complete hell that Europe experienced as World War I. A lot of that traditional culture got replaced by Marxism and various Volkisch movements which sought to eliminate every aspect of the old culture and refound ethnic and racial identity on some kind of imagined pure historical source.
That’s when white man became the ultimate white man. We’re going to talk about that, about Carl Jung’s experience in the Southwest speaking to a native American medicine man.
I’m going to talk about how I lost my faith and then got it back 7 years later and what was involved in that. How I experience firsthand and many of you as well what this post modern crisis is all about. I know that many people out there are lapsed orthodox Christians who are looking for another faith or something to substitute for that.

As I mentioned before, we’re going to learn about the structure of the psyche from several points of view, from Jung and then go back through Freud to Wilhelm Reich and the primal therapy I did, as well as investigating what esoteric Christianity is and who and what Gurdjieff and Ouspensky were.
There is a tremendous advantage to being eclectic. I’ve essentially thrown up my hands at the attempt to introduce the Jungians to Wilhelm Reich and primal therapy or introduce the “primalers” to Jung and others.
We’re going to learn about 5 myths which will give you the basis of realizing that mythology deals with very valid aspects of the human experience.
Those myths are the myth of Wotan and how he lost his eye and then the story of Adam and Eve and then on to Oedipus Rex followed by the story of Persephone, and last, but not least, the story of Midas and the Minotaur.
I don’t discard all the other myths. I’m basically relating the history of my development by exploring my understanding of these myths and how it affected me.
The myth of Wotan Will be instrumental and understanding what it means to seek knowledge and what you have to give up to have it and what it means to transcend your own subjectivity.
The secret is that you do not rise above your subjectivity but rather rise above and below it at the same time while embracing a wider context. Yes it’s all about forests and trees and whatnot. Yes, and what it meant for Wotan to sacrifice an eyeball that ended up in the well of knowledge.
There’s also a dark side to the myth of Wotan and we’ll talk about that too.
Next we’ll get into the myth of Adam and Eve which has been something I’ve been very interested in and even a bit obsessed with since about third grade when I first learned about it in detail. Many of you have probably heard of Joseph Campbell, the comparative religion expert, and will look at his interpretations of these events, as well as my own, to come to understand what it began as and what it became and what it reflects about us.
With Oedipus Rex I’m going to explain what never gets explained. What never gets explained? Why is it that the Greeks, of all people, basically just another slave society of the Mediterranean, had this specific insight into the tragic nature of their existence at that time?
This calls for Freud plus Jung and some insight into Nietzsche’s legitimate criticisms of Socrates and Plato.
We’ll talk about how they gave birth to a mistaken idealism that became the basis of authoritarianism in the West. I dare say this explanation will be singular. Very, very singular. But, I think you’ll like it.
With the myth of Persephone you’ll come to understand why Robert Graves said that nowadays there’s no Zeus upon the throne, in command of the world, and how instead we are ruled by Apollo with Mercury and Hades as science, commerce, and communication, without any kind of limitation so that they serve life instead of exploiting it.
The fifth one will be the story of Midas and the Minotaur. For this one I’m particularly indebted to the Jungian psychiatrist, Italian Jewish Adriana Mazzarella who clued me in on all this when she was my ESL student in Milan Italy. I helped prepare her for her seminars on Dante’s Divine Comedy before she went to America. And this will turn out to all be connected to the Knights Templar and Gurdjieff, the esoteric Christian who came on the scene in the early 20th century in Moscow just as the revolution got started.
Gurdjieff had a number of exceptional followers including the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
We’re going to spend quite a bit of time on what Carl Jung called synchronicity, the idea, the sense that the interpretation of events in your life that appear disconnected from irrational perspective, but which seem to speak to us sometimes in a very loud voice. I have a set of stories that are, minimally, hard to believe. I have no choice, however, having lived them.
We’re going to go through the history of the reasoning process and its refinement into scientific logic and process. We’ll talk about the life of Isaac Newton and other greats of physics. We will find out that the scientific community is not actually faithful to would have to be deemed the intellectual and moral basis of science itself. And we’ll do that by looking at the history of science and its controversies. For example, we will talk about the whole controversy regarding continental drift, a major breakthrough that Einstein maintained was false.
I call my site the Contrary Warrior Health Blog based on my experience, correct or incorrect as it were, of the character of the contrary warrior in the 1968 film with Dustin Hoffman called “Little Big Man”.
I’ve been informed by people who know more than me that that was not really an accurate depiction, but I can say without doubt that I am a contrarian and I am at war and so therefore it is, as Mr Spock would say, “logical” that I function as a “contrary warrior”.
